This time last year Aussie ripper Harry Bryant paid us a visit at the tail end of shooting with Dav Fox for their new film Motel Hell, which premieres online for 24 hours on STAB on Tuesday February 26th.
Haz has Cornish roots, and his grandparents still live in Padstow so he tagged a bit of time with them onto the end of his European strike. He wasn’t expecting to score waves whilst staying with them, but score he did.
Whilst filming in Ireland, where he surfed the big St Patrick’s Day swell last year, Haz met Cord head shaper Markie Lascelles who was over delivering boards to our Irish team riders and customers. A week or so later, he messaged Markie to say that he was visiting St Agnes, hoping to surf, but he didn't have any of regular boards with him so could he please borrow one?
“I leant him my Swordfish and he was ripping on it, even when he went out in boardies on a freezing day at Porthtowan whist everyone else was still in hoods and boots. But he completely disintegrated the tail over the course of the weekend.”
“The next week he came by the factory, and picked up a board destined for fellow Aussie Noah Lane and asked ‘can you make me one of those?’ Four days later we paddled out at Porthleven and I was watching him punt the biggest airs I’ve ever seen on it. It was a week for the books, without a doubt!”
A year on, and Haz’s 50 minute milk-fuelled cult horror surf flick Motel Hell is about to get its online premiere, showing free on STAB for 24 hours, from 2am GMT tomorrow, Tuesday February 26th. Haz is giving away his Emery Surfboards board that he surfed in the Namibia section and a load of Vans merch.
